Manchester City counterattack to beat PSG 2-1 in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-finals: it was Manchester City who beat PSG. They won the tie 2-1, securing 2 crucial away goals.

Manchester City put in a great performance to come back and take control of the Champions League semi-final with the victory over Paris St-Germain in France.

Manchester City counterattack to beat PSG 2-1 in the UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg: Pep Guardiola’s side fought their way through a brilliant early wave of PSG as they fell behind Marquinhos’s header, seen from the Angel di Maria corner after 15 minutes, to dominate after the break and turn around this first leg in Paris.

City, who had threatened before the break when Phil Foden missed a great opportunity, were much more positive and got the reward they deserved after 64 minutes when a threatening cross from Kevin de Bruyne evaded everyone in the penalty area and beat the immobile PSG goalkeeper Kaylor Navas.
PSG, with Neymar fading and Kylian Mbappé subdued, were ragged and Riyad Mahrez put City in great position to reach their first Champions League final when his free kick with his left leg broke through the barrier to beat Navas seven minutes later.

And to complete PSG’s misery, former Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye rightly received a red card at the end for a terrible challenge at Ilkay Gundogan.

Mauricio Pochettino made 4 changes to his side who beat Metz on Saturday. Bakker, Marquinhos, Gueye and Di Maria entered the starting eleven. Kurzawa, Kehrer, Herrera, and Sarabia fell onto the bench.

Pep Guardiola also made 4 changes to the team that beat Spurs in the final last time. Ederson returned to the goal, John Stones, Rodri and Bernardo Silva also entered. Laporte, Sterling and Fernandinho were benched for this match.

PSG had some early opportunities, but did not take advantage of them. Ederson comfortably saved Di Maria’s first real chance and the second chance saw the ball deflected from Dias and away by Ederson.
